texte = Ok. Well what i want is to have multiple servers (with webcatalog, IIS)access the same site. We have a problem with our site - certain tasksmakes webcatalog (DBSERVER.EXE) take alot of the CPU resources while thetask is being executed. When they run our whole system slows down :-(.So my first thought was why not have two servers accessing samesite/files/code at the same time. We don't use webcatalogs DB-system buta SQL database, so I thought it should be possible, but i guess notthen???Morten-----Original Message-----From: John Peacock [mailto:jpeacock@rowman.com]Sent: 26. marts 2004 16:40To: WebDNA TalkSubject: Re: Include file not working on remote directory.Morten Madsen wrote:> I setup the webserver to access the files on the properserver/directory> and I had hoped this would be enough. No you haven't, you just think you have. The WebCatalog service runs asa specific user, with specific rights. That user typically is a machineaccount, with no rights to any network resources. There is no way to set up a_server_to access another server's resources. You can only give a _user_ rightsto resources. What you did was create a drive map under a specific account(probably Administrator or your local login), but that drive map is not available to other accounts on the machine.> So is it impossible to have your Webcatalog files placed on another> computer than the actual webserver? Or am I doing something wrong.I don't know why you would want to, but I strongly recommend againsteven attempting it. I'm not even sure it is possible (since the remotefolder must be referenced via a UNC path). Even though I have done similary thingsin the past (e-mail server with mailboxes on a different drive), it is a majorpain and not worth the effort, IMNSHO.John-- John PeacockDirector of Information Research and TechnologyRowman & Littlefield Publishing Group4501 Forbes BoulevardSuite HLanham, MD 20706301-459-3366 x.5010fax 301-429-5748-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
