Is the data that's now in the first field still separated into fields .... but by a certain number of space characters instead of tabs? For example, do 5 space characters (or another number of space characters) appear there instead of a single tab character? The reason I ask is because some text editing programs default to saving tabs as a pre-specified number of space characters ... and other simple text editors do not recognize tabs at all, which may cause them to save tabs as spaces. If one of these programs were used to save the .db file, it would have replaced each tab with the pre-specified number of space characters. Then when webdna opened the db again, it would see that the .hdr field has the proper number of tabs -- but the .db file does not -- so webdna would then try to 'fix' the .db file format by adding the missing tabs to each record in the .db file. If someone edited your .db file with a program that defaults to saving tabs as a pre-specified number of space characters, or with a simple text editor that does not recognize tabs and therefore replaces them with single spaces, this might explain why the tabs were replaced by spaces. This does not tell you who did it of course, but it might suggest that "someone" accessed your .db file manually without your permission ... -- Kenneth Grome WebDNA Programmer Outsource Service Provider Phone: +6332 255-6591 ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
