texte = Hi Charles, Thanks for your help earlier. Yesterday I reinstalled the whole thing via Fink, and it showed that ghostscript and its fonts were installed, so no, I didn't try your solution. However, I will try that right now. Okay, I checked the situation, and ghostscript and the fonts were installed where fink wanted to put them (in a directory called sw). So I copied the ghostscript stuff over to usr/local/share/ in case it wanted to find it there, but it still isn't working. I did post this on the Imagemagick list, but the combination of Mac usage and font usage is apparently uncommon. One Unix guy has been emailing me, and we agree it's a font problem, but that's about as far as I got. ....half hour later... I put in the path to the font, specifying one of the ghostscript fonts, and that did the trick. -font sw/etc... (I had tried this earlier with Verdana, but when it didn't work, I moved on.) It will also read .ttf fonts, but not Verdana (grrr) So now it's off to determine a good font.
