Then I clicked the "Security" tab and I could see that "Save Files With Custom Permissions" was unchecked, so I checked it. This activated the three drop-down menus for Owner, Group and Everyone. Only Owner was set to "Read & Write", the other two were only set to "Read" so I set all three to "Read & Write". I did not enter anything into the "Owner Name" field because I didn't know what to enter, nor did I check the box next to "Set Owner To Parent Folder Owner" because I didn't know if that was necessary either. Then I saved my changes and upload a new db file via FTP, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that webdna was able to write to the db file I just uploaded. So it seems that my changes solved the problem.
