I can't remember who did it and how much they wanted for it... we'll probably hear tonight sometime ;-). and wow, I haven't looked at thepub for years now! :-) Good to have Howard posting again. I particularly liked Howard's WebMail beta app! As for my forum... I would characterize it as a lean mean engine, lacking a lot of contemporary features that would make it a viable solution over implementing current (PHP) apps. It does contain the following: - keeps track of time for individual users based on their relevence to GMT. (time defaults to GMT when not logged in) - Customer profile area.. avatars, GMT settings, etc.. - Administrators Area - user/groups - can specify abilities of users: (public, moderator, admin) - categories administration. - Security - "admin" enabled users can block I.P.'s of offending posters, and delete posts. - Sessions (cookie based) Contains both session and "remember me" options - Engine is clean and fast What it needs next (IMO): - text formating - quoting is a priority - bold, ital, etc.. - admin editable skin system - little better security - userhistory database that incorporates cookie info and I.P. history to help identify "bad elements" :). - second tier registration approval process option (by admin) - "report" post feature, so an admin can be made aware of "situations". - search feature for posts - photo upload system - (currently only inline (linked) photos are allowed) - would like to have the option to allow photo upload capabilities based on number of posts by user. I've asked a couple people over the last couple years if they would like to help finish it.. as I haven't had time. That really didn't produce much. However, I think I will make the time to finish it myself. When I get it done, I'll release it in some fashion. Probably open source.
