texte = I thought I'd chime in on the server crashing problem.I recently moved my WebDNA sites to a MS 2003 Server running WebDNA 6.0a. Ihave no problems. Before the move I was running a MS 2000 Server with WebCat 4.0 for a littleover 7 years. It operated perfectly with the exception of a few months rightbefore I saw posts here that other people were having server crashingproblems. Our server was not crashing but the WebCat service died a fewtimes a week for those few months and the server required a reboot. For somereason just restarting WebCat would not do the trick. The only thing I sawthat could have caused the problem was a number of instances of a webcrawler/ search bot/ whatever that kept drilling the server. In any case theproblem disappeared mysteriously after a few months and never came back. That copy of WebCat was purchased from SM but I'm not sure if the "phonehome" code was in place at the time. In any case I do not think the phonehome code would crash WebCat anyhow. At the time I had a laptop that Ideveloped on with the same WebCat 4.0 installed on it and it never crashedonce and I frequently had it off-line for days with no internet connectionto "phone home" and die over.In any case I am thrilled with the new installation of WebDNA 6.0a on my newserver. No problems. I'm happy. I also use the Developer edition on mylaptop running XP Pro with no problems. For the record: I do not support a phone home "feature" but understand itsintent and would support a stronger level of software registration andupgrade/patch/etc. requirements. My two cents....Michael DeLorenzo-----Original Message-----From: Terry Wilson [mailto:terry@terryfic.com] Sent: Thursday, December 18, 2008 9:49 AMTo: talk@webdna.usSubject: Re: [WebDNA] Crashing againSo there you go... a time problem. I believe I threw this out as a possibility at the time. This year daylight savings time started earlier than ever, like a whole month - March 9. Then did your problem correct itself when we came around to the end of April, when the previous system normally kicked in?On Dec 18, 2008, at 9:35 AM, Donovan Brooke wrote:> My problem during that time stemmed from a network time server.
