Later, to have the best of both worlds ....client and server sideprocessing, we adopted Flash embedded content and used ActionScript to dothe validation on the client side (besides other smart logic) whilst stillensuring that WebDNA did the back-end validation or rather checking.Today ,,,,,we are compelled to adopt JS. Turning off JS is really not anoption these days in most browsers. The move is towards HTML5 / CSS3 / JS.It is being adopted in practically all OS, PC or mobile apps and is beingdriven hard by the big boys (Adobe / MS / Apple, etc.). Nowadays, folks whoturn off JS are advised that they need to have JS turned on in order to workwith or view the site. Online banking, e-com, b2b and mis solutions are allJS dependent in some shape or form. As such, we develop with JS front endvalidation support (moving away from Flash for mobile solutioncompatibility) but STILL using WedDNA for back-end validation.FYI ...Cheers Terry Nair-----Original Message-----From: Govinda [mailto:govinda.webdnatalk@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, January 04, 2013 06:47To: talk@webdna.usSubject: Re: [WebDNA] making all fields on a form mandatory> That's how I do it. (and should never be basic/mandatory). In the case of formvalidation, that point is especially obvious, because a user could just turnoff JS to get around JS-based form validation. So why bother with JSform-validation at all? Many don't. Not me either when I am lazy or in ahurry (but I would never neglect server-side form validation). But JS(client-side) form validation reduces server burden (and saves the usertime)... i.e. why wait for a full round trip, to server and back, just findout (in the 99% of the cases where JS is not turned off) that the userforgot to input his email address? That is the value of JS for formvalidation.-Govinda---------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed tothe mailing list .To unsubscribe, E-mail to: archives: http://mail.webdna.us/list/talk@webdna.usBug Reporting: support@webdna.us
