It is being adopted in practically all OS, PC or mobile apps and is being driven hard by the big boys (Adobe / MS / Apple, etc.). Nowadays, folks who turn off JS are advised that they need to have JS turned on in order to work with or view the site. Online banking, e-com, b2b and mis solutions are all JS dependent in some shape or form. As such, we develop with JS front end validation support (moving away from Flash for mobile solution compatibility) but STILL using WedDNA for back-end validation. JS (Javascript/JQuery) is often considered by experts to be only an *addition*... (and should never be basic/mandatory). In the case of form validation, that point is especially obvious, because a user could just turn off JS to get around JS-based form validation. So why bother with JS form-validation at all? Many don't. Not me either when I am lazy or in a hurry (but I would never neglect server-side form validation). But JS (client-side) form validation reduces server burden (and saves the user time)... i.e. why wait for a full round trip, to server and back, just find out (in the 99% of the cases where JS is not turned off) that the user forgot to input his email address? That is the value of JS for form validation. -Govinda--------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
