It worked fine during our internal beta testing with the Webcat 2.0.1b1 plugin. We went live last Friday, and within 10 minutes Webstar started crashing with a Type 2 or 25 error. Note that the only difference was that instead of 4 or 5 simultaneous connections, we were at 20-50 simultaneous connections. I also noticed that the server was downright sluggish when accessed under these conditions. I had hoped that a 604/120 would be enough horsepower for 100k hits/day...I immediately dropped back to the 2.0 final plugin, and things stabilized somewhat (although the Search engine stopped working...). Instead of crashing every 10 minutes, Webstar now only crashes every 4-6 hours. It seems to be a cumulative effect, because shutting down and restarting Webstar seems to extend the time before a crash. I also get a Memory Err displayed over the graphical connections bar of the display window of Webstar at some point before the crash, even though the high water mark for memory never passes 80%. Does this mean corrupted memory, memory full, or faulty hardware? I also haven't seen any messages in the log file that would indicate a problem (but I haven't been able to see the log file before the application quits even if some logging to the screen occurs).I also noticed Webcat 2.0.1 final showed up over the weekend on the Pacific Coast site (in the Docs directory? Come on guys...), so I tried that as well. Same results: boom within 10 minutes with either Type 2 or Type 25 error. CGI of 2.0.1b1 and 2.0.1: same results. I also tried dropping back to Webstar 2.0, with the same results.I am running on a PowerCenter 604/120 with 48mb RAM, mirrored disks with FWB Raid Toolkit 2.06, MacOS 8, Webstar 2.1, Webcat 2.0, and v2.0.2 of the Admin, Dir Indexer and Data cache plugin, and v2.0.3 of the SSI plugin. Webcat and the Data Cache plugin are the only plugins being used when the crashes occur. We started with the RAM allocation for Webstar at 15mb, and have since increased it to 25mb with no effect. Norton 3.5.1 also gives a clean slate.I haven't been able to narrow down the cause of the crashes to any particular page or URL as of yet, but we have about a dozen templates and around 5000 (yes, thousand) images with corresponding database entries to display them. We have surfed through every template ourselves, and haven't been able to reproduce the crash.Has ANYONE seen behavior like this, or know what may causing it? We have been using this exact hardware throughout the development of this site, so I don't think my hardware is flaky. Regardless, I plan on migrating the whole folder (all 165mb of it) back to our original server to verify that this is a software problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting really tired of my server crashing. Again, this server has been used by 2-3 people for testing for the past two months with no problems like this...Thanks,Dale--- Dale LaFountain | mailto:dalel@dhorse.com Director of MIS, WebMaster | http://www.dhorse.com/ Dark Horse Comics, Inc. |Phone: 503-652-8815 x324 Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
