Let me guess that you are not running RedHat 6.x; many installations (Caldera for one) use some other number for the nobody user ( often 2**16 - 2 ).It is more correct for them to check to see what UID the nobody user has on the running system and then spawn the daemons with that UID, not a hard-coded value like 99, which is only true in some Linux installations. To change all user permissions, do the following from the directory _above_ where WebCat is installed: chown -R nobody:nobody WebCatPath/This will change all files in that hierarchy to be owned by the nobody user, which is the correct behavior. The directory which contains the Webcatalog executable must have the correct owner, or you will not be able to change any system databases, like Preferences or Users.HTHJohn Peacock ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: WebCat is different user Author: Date: 11/11/99 10:52 AMLatest Linux beta: Our admin told me that WebCat no longer runs as user 99 but with a different number and this fact is not documented.
