Make sure that the web server user has rights to the remote drive where the Access database is located. All Access files operate via a shared file motif; there is no server process to manage the file access. It is frequently easier to move the physical file to the web server machine and then have any remote users drive map that directory, rather than the other way around. It is much easier to stomach creating a public drive share on the web server than to give the web server access to internal resources. Make sure you block UDP ports 137-138 in your firewall, so that people outside your network cannot see the public shares (although they would still need to log in to access them). You can also easily webify the perl script so that you can run it as a CGI; I bet it will not operate when run as the lower security web user.Hope this helpsJohn Peacock ____________________Reply Separator____________________ Subject: [OT] ODBC between IIS and remote Access problem Author: (WebCatalog Talk) Date: 2/14/00 12:52 PMHas anybody been able to find how to solve the problem when trying to connect to a remote Access database via ODBC on IIS?Although a Perl script will access the database, no CGI script on IIS would.I cannot find anything related to any solution on Microsoft.com ... ------------------------------------------------------------- Brought to you by CommuniGate Pro - The Buzz Word Compliant Messaging Server.
