But due to a long illness, I have been away from the regular talk list for about 9 months and this list for a few weeks or when ever it got going again. Something like a thousand unread messages from the main list, give or take a few hundred. You want an education. You ought to go back a thousand messages and read what goes on in the talk list and then read it recently over there and then over here. The intentions of SmithMicro-Grant-Jay, etc. are to close a security hole. They have asked for valid suggestions on how to do this that would impact older 3.0 sites that might have a [text] variable is what I get out of this playing massive catch up.Mr. Hulbert said early today I thinkNaturally I'd like to figure out a way to keep the functionality you're asking for and also maintain some kind of security. So let's try to think in a more general and abstract way about how we can achieve the same affect that you're getting now.then he saidI am thankful for all feedback, especially those which provide helpful solutions that cover both the security and the backwards-compatibility issues. As always, let's work together to find the best solution. Let's also not get sidetracked into name-calling (the public talk list has plenty of that)...I want to see only helpful solutions posted here that lead to a reasonable solution. So seeing repeated threats over and over that I will not upgrade to 4.0, is not providing, helpful solutions as Mr. Hulbert asked for. Then Mr. Hulbert went on to say Let's also not get sidetracked into name-calling (the public talk list has plenty of that)...Excuse me for a second, but might I ask can't we all read plain English?I remember the days when the beta went from I think 1.6 to 2.0. And everybody on this list at the time, made suggestions and reported bugs and worked hand and hand with Grant to make a fantastic product. Those of you who were not around at that time, it was a blast. I enjoyed that experience very much. As did all the list members. Is it possible to make the beta days of 3.0 to 4.0 the same fun and exciting experience? Can we all just bite our tongues from time to time and hold back hitting that send button once and awhile. We should be working as a team in concert with Grant and crew. Not disjointed and pulling and pushing one another around.Just my 2 cents after returning after a long time off.=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 775.850.2900 Fx: 775.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com ===============================================############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
