The beta list was much more active during the 3.0 beta. Wasn't the beta trial for v3 longer than v4 also?Just went to the beta list archive to answer my own question: v3 beta started mid June 98 and v3 gold was released 9/30/98: 3.5 months. v4 beta started end of April 00 and (according the sales dept.) v4 will be released next week: 1.5 months. One possible reason for the lack of intensive testing might be that v3 had badly needed tags: SQL, [!], [UnURL], [Text], [ListWords], [CountWords], [WaitForFile], Triggers, [TCPConnect], [TCPSend], [Middle], [Spawn].They were so essential that nobody was asking for money to test them (not sure about Ken though :).I wouldn't think of doing a commerce site without most of these tags now.V4 also has nice new features but they feel more like improvements. We haven't had time to test v4 yet, (not even the new Unix permissions :) but we intend to do so in June. What about giving some more time before going gold?Clem.############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
