The site they sent screenshots of is darkhorse.com, our corporate website that does not even sell directly. Go figure...They are demanding $20k and a signed patent covenant to protect us from future litigation (HA!). Our legal counsel is preparing our response now.My question is: has anyone else seen this or similar demand letter, and if so, what was your response?I find it difficult to believe that we're being singled out as the ONLY alleged infringer on these poorly worded patents that describe the activity of EVERY e-commerce site on the Internet. There are certainly much bigger fish in the Internet ocean than my company. I poked around a few search engines, and could not find any references to this company or the patent infringements.I talked with the product manager at SMSI (since one of the patents involves automated payment processing, SMSI would likely be pulled into this battle if it ever got off the ground), and they haven't heard anything about this either. The PanIP website contains some information on this topic if anyone is interested in reading up before your personalized demand letter arrives. :\ http://www.panip.com/company.htmThanks,Dale -- Dale LaFountain Vice President of Information Technology, WebMaster Dark Horse Comics, Inc. mailto:dalel@darkhorse.com Phone: 503-652-8815 x324 http://www.darkhorse.com/------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
