WebCat is a wonderful development environment with lots of really smart features. It is, however, not intended to be good at everything. In particular, it is weak at parsing oddly formatted files.I would recommend ignoring all Solutions relying completely on WebCat. This is a good job for a preparsing script in Perl (or some other language). I would go further to say that the majority of this data does not belong in WebCatalog at all; store the bulk of the information in a SQL database of some sort and extract only the fields that need to be searchable and put only that data in WebCatalog itself. Once a record set has been identified, extract the associated information using the [SQL] context. RAM is cheap but you are starting to be CPU bound if you have to full text search a 500MB database.HTHJohnp.s. any WebCat database with 150 fields is, IMNSHO, bad design. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...-- John Peacock Director of Information Research and Technology Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group 4720 Boston Way Lanham, MD 20706 301-459-3366 x.5010 fax 301-429-5747 ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
