It was due to some bad codethat did a search on a large database, with no limits on results and reallynot much in the way of search criteria. The page was a secondary 'results' page, that a user would never hit withoutpassing form variables, but whenever a spider would hit The page it wouldthrow webcat into a loop. Enough spiders hit the page, and crash...The machine 'worked' during this time, that is, you couldn't really notice aslowdown in response times... until it crashed.Just as a reference point, since fixing the problem, our xserve now runswebcat at 0% with spikes to 20 or 30.
