A cart file is created only when an orderfile action takes place, i.e. SHOWCART, [Orderfile], [SetHeader], [AddLineItem], etc... Then the [cart] value is used for the filename. -----Original Message----- From: Donovan [mailto:dbrooke@euca.us] Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2003 10:51 AM To: WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com Subject: Re: cart file creation Brian, It looks like the file is *not* created until the orderfile (or one of the other cart contexts/commands is used. Here is my test that lets you see: http://www.euca.us/admin/tests/testcart2/index.html Though I think this is a benefit *Performance* wise, I think there would other benefits having the file created instantaniously! The main benefit (and current complaint) is that the CART DATE and TIME is not a representation of when the CART number was made but rather when the user first edited or view his/her CART. For sessioning, it would be beneficial for us to have this Date and Time stamp instantaniously when [cart] is created. ! Scott (or someone at SMSI), can you comment on the reasoning for this function? The [cart] tag is only responsible for generating a unique "ID", that can then be passed from page to page.
