texte = Having spent most of my career in marketing (which is why my code is so lame :) I can see a couple of basic problems in the way SMSI markets their product. - Too many variations. I've used this stuff since 3.x and I still can't figure out all the various packages. Marc's right - cut it down to two packages that are super easy to understand. - Price. To borrow a page from Microsoft, success is found in when your product becomes the standard: critical mass. Critical mass will never be achieved at these prices. The product needs to be cheap and marketed with an objective of high volume, not high margin. This is a very risky strategy and I can't see SMSI doing it. But, when you look at PHP, which IMHO is the standard and has the critical mass, how can you argue? That said, with market conditions what they are, I don't think SMSI has many options other than what they're doing already. I think dna's fate is that of a fringe player. Too bad, though.
