If the user is the admin, you can set a cookie that you can check to let you display the login link, so the public doesn't see it, only the admin. Of course the first time they log in they won't see that; you have to send them directly to the login URL. Another cookie for general members can identify them by name so it's easy to display their name in a welcome message (whether they're logged in or not).
