So here it is: [format days_to_date %b %d][math]{[eventdate]}[/math][/format] where [eventdate] is in the format you are using; i.e. mm/dd/yyyy [format] is for numbers and text strings, so that's why you need to use [math]{mm/dd/yyyy}[/math] to get it in numerical format first.
