There's a lot of confusion about Red Hat versions since there are actually two different Red Hat Os's, each with their own version numbering sequence: Red Hat Linux (RHL) is the good ol' freeware Red Hat. It was discontinued back in 2003 with version 9 being the last update. Red Hat Enterprise (RHE) is a more commercial OS that comes with a mandatory update subscription service. RHE 3 corresponds to RHL 9. (Later versions of RHE, 4.x and the current v.5, have been based on another Linux variant, Fedore Core.) CentOS is simply RHE without the auto-update subscription thingy (and maintained by a different group of developers). --- The latest Linux version officially supported by WebDNA is RHL 9 / RHE 3 / CentOS 3 (the WebDNA site says RHE 9.x but that doesn't make any sense since there never was any ".x" of v. 9.) I know there are people running WebDNA on CentOS/RHE 4.x but it's not supported yet and I have no idea how far up you can go before it becomes a problem. Nor do I know if any modifications are needed to get WebDNA to work with modern Linux versions. Perhaps other ist members with Linux/WebDNA experience can help us out here?
