Handling phone traffic for all of this is turning into a hassle.

I have an oral surgery office, and an e-commerce company, and am adding a software solutions company. None of these overlap in the real world.

In the old days , when it was just the first two, we pointed the 800 number for the second company to one of our phone lines in our oral surgery office and then marked that line with orange tape. Of course, an employee would invariably pick up that line an answer for the wrong company. So, we added an IP phone with virtual office from Packet8, and that has worked OK since then, short for the nuisance of having the physical handset hardware taking up valuable desk space. And the voice quality on Packet 8 can be quite crappy at times.

The phone system in the oral surgery office is a 10 year old modular Panasonic system that has worked well, but I’m certain there’s a better way to do things.  Our ILEC is Verizon, and the phone traffic is all IP anyways since we have FIOS (fiber), but I’m fairly certain any solution from Verizon will be ridiculously expensive. Oh, and CommuniGate Pro is our mail server.

Ideas anyone?
