But not a brand new drive? Hard drives = are not that expensive
these days, are they?

I suggest buying a new hard drive and = installing everything
fresh on the new drive. This may be = the only way to know for
certain if your current drive is = faulty.

Or if you want to go really cheap, = just setup a $2 per month
VPS and see if the problems = continue. If so, software is
definitely causing the = problem, not hardware.

Lowendbox.com is currently featuring this = monthly VPS deal
from MegaZoneHosting:

3GB SSD VPS

    = CPU Cores: 2
    RAM: 3GB
    SSD: 30GB
    = Bandwidth: 3000GB
    Network Port: = 1000Mbps
    Virtualization: OpenVZ
    Control Panel: SolusVM
    $1.95 a month

At the moment they have only one review (and it's bad) but
there are many other cheap hosting companies to choose = from.
This host may be good or bad, and you'll never know = until you
try them, but at least they accept monthly = payments -- so the
most you'd lose is $2 and a little time = if they suck.

And if you get lucky they may be the best and = last host your
websites will ever need -- for only $2 per = month!

I think you're probably still = determined to continue running
your own hardware, so my = 'try a cheap VPS' suggestion may not
be for you. But we're = already discussing a possible hardware
issue, so I think = it makes sense to remind others that a VPS
can be an = effective and permanent way to eliminate personal
hardware = issues, and simplify your blife, and save both time
and = money.

Think about it. Have you ever heard = of anyone revert to
running their own hardware again after = switching to VPS
hosting?

But not a brand new drive? Hard drives = are not that expensive
