I was tipped off by a local computer store last night about the following url because they know I use lots of tables for my webcatalog output.http://developer.netscape.com/library/documentation/communicator/tables.htm Since most of us use tables to format our search results I thought I would past this on.From the above urlNew behavior: In cases where COLS are specified (see Table QuickLayout below), the entire table is expanded in order to preserve these cell widths. In cases where COLS are not specified, the individual cells are shrunk to fit the specified total table width (as in Navigator 2 and 3). This is a change from Communicator Preview Release 1. Old behavior: In all cases, the individual cells are shrunk to fit to the specified total table width.Table QuickLayoutNetscape Communicator features improved table layout performance. To take advantage of this improved layout performance, designers should specify how many columns are in the table as an attribute to the table tag. For optimal usage: 1.Specify the number of columns as an attribute to the table tag (e.g., . 2.Specify the width of all the cells in the table. 3.Make sure that the width of cells in the first row matches cells in the same column in subsequent rows. 4.Avoid nested tables---- 1.) It appears it will do pages with tables faster. (I like this) 2.) #4 avoid nested tables???? I remember Grant recommending to somebody on this list nested tables to get a proper page layout. I have a few pages with nested tables also. I assume it means the page will load slower as it tries to figure out what it is supposed to do and nothing more.=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
