Here goes and none of this is to make any one mad.I have been on the webstar mail list for a little over a year I think now. The single largest complaint has been true virtual hosting. Most search engines do not work with the plug-ins and redirection, this has also been discussed. Not all browsers work with plug-ins for the same reason. Fancy footwork is nice but not always the right answer. For me to compete with the other ISP's here I need true virtual hosting capabilities. My competitors all know I am a mac only office. They go to these lists and use them against me. Luckily they didn't know about the webten list. I just took the biggest newspaper company in the area away from them. At a meeting it was discussed about our systems good and bad points. It was pointed out from some of their employees since opening we had close to zero down time and great connection speed, with excellent tech support. The topic was then changed to webserver software. My competitor then brought out his information on a mac using webstar and virtual hosting. The newspaper was not happy with that info until I asked the competitor what he used to which he stated Apache. I then pointed out that I used the same exact software. To which he made the deadly mistake of saying no way, that isn't possible on the mac. I then showed the Webten product info. Needless to say he helped me get this contract and hopefully more to follow because of how well he could sell apache.Their are some minor difficulties with webten but I also find them with webstar. Configuring is sometimes a guess and bigolly it worked scenario. All of my plugins seem to work ok, its just sometimes a guess to get them to work right. Hopefully the plugin makers will work with webten to get this fixed. I know Maxum is right now. As far as webcatalog hopefully now that starnine owns it maybe it will be fixed to be 100% compatible for the plugin because even when opentransport is fixed it will be a problem but, as they also own webstar why should they.I am kinda surprised more people are not grabbing this software. It is exactly the software so many people have screamed for.Well sorry for the rambling. I need to get moving as I want a lot of business customers and I am sure webcatalog will help with that. It is truely a good piece of software.Bennie ************************************** Bennie Warren /\ LemooreNet / / 320 West D Street / / Lemoore, CA 93245 / / /\ /\ Phone: 209.924.5909 / /_ _ / \ / / Fax 209.924.9578 \ _ _ / /\ \/ / bennie@lemoorenet.com / / \ / http://www.lemoorenet.com /_/ \/ ************************************** Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
