texte = I need to understand better how webdna is handled relative to other things that take place on a single page. Here is the problem, I have a hidden page counter on the bottom of a main index page, that uses an [include], passes a varible that is the name of the counter to trigger one count to every time the page is accessed to a webcat db. Simple stuff.Just above the [include] for the counter sits my countwebula code, so that the clients site shows a vanity counter (again at the bottom of the page). My webdna db shows the page accessed 263,000 some odd times. The countwebula shows the page accessed some odd 190,000 times. And the difference between the two continues to grow.So now try to explain away to a client why the counters are not in tune with each other. And put a redundant counter to a new db record, just on that page to make sure, somebody didn't goof and trigger the index counter on another page via a typo. All checks out. Webcat vs Countwebula don't count the same, webcat counts more hits. What I assume is happening and I would like to be clear on, is that the webdna code that triggers the counter takes place before the page loads completely. and the countwebula counter is not getting triggered because somebody on a slow link, clicked on a navigation link to go elsewhere in the site before the page completely loaded and got to the countwebula code on the page. Is that a logical explaination I can give my client with out sounding like I am talking out of the side of my mouth?Because I am just about to test via [elapsedtime] comparing to indentical pages, one with countwebula for the vantity counter and one using [getchars] using the webcat db and pulling in 2.gif, 6.gif, 3.gif, etc. to create the vanity counter and toss countwebula just to get the client off my back. But they want an explaination first as to why the problem. Is my assumtion correct?=============================================== Gary Richter PanaVise Products, Inc. 7540 Colbert Dr. Reno, Nevada 89511 Ph: 702.850.2900 Fx: 702.850.2929 Email: grichter@panavise.com http://www.panavise.com =============================================== Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
