Viewing the macfinder site on a PC, the text spills out of the sidebar on Netscape, IE and Opera. A good workaround is to revise the deisgn of your site: 1. Remove the background graphic 2. create a table with a lefthand cell for the sidebar and the righthand cell for content (looks like your site is already like this) 3. fill the lefthand table with the olive color ()Voila! Even if someone increases their font size, the table will stretch to accommodate it and keep the text on the olive background. The disadvantage is that you will have a slight offset from the edge of the browser window before the table will appear. If you want to check out how this works, look at www.worldpoint.com. The sidebar and top of the site are just colored table cells and resize appropriately when necessary. Try viewing the japanese version of the site WITHOUT changing to Japanese encoding (this page is good http://www.worldpoint.com/tpls/services.wpi?pageID=88096317155174JA). This illustrates that no matter HOW large the text gets, the table will not break and spill text. The other way you can fix the problem is to switch to a frame based layout, although this has complications of its own, especially if you have a dynamic navigation setup on the left sidebar. Basically, if your nav is too big, a scroll bar will appear between frames, which is not the most attractive thing.hope this helps, Dan At 10:22 AM 7/9/98 -1000, you wrote: >My background is a .gif with a color band on the left side, but the width of that color band is fixed, of course.
