where to put code

But I'm fairly new at this and certainly confused.In some of the samples I've seen sometimes the WebDNA code is within the HyperLInk, sometimes in hidden form fields and sometimes in the file that is returned. Sometimes I see part of the code, like what to search for, in the link. But then I see the database name, startat, etc in the resulting file.Where should it be? What has to be where?
