texte = First, thanks to everyone that responded so helpfully to my first posting. I have been trying to study up on what was recommended. Now I think I'm ready to begin. But, before I can begin. . . .I have never connected two computers together before. I did not realize WebCat needed to be seen thru another computer. In the manuel it says an ethernet connection. . .I have an appletalk cable that I was going to run from a StarMax's external modem connection (WebCat's future home) to the external modem connection of my G3 (which is running a regular internet connection via its internal modem, which I want to stay functional, by the way.) .Will this work? (I don't have a way to connect both computers online at the same time as I only have the one phone line.)And do I then need to set up an Appletalk network for me to contact the StarMax from the G3? Would that be considered a single workstation or what? (I've been looking at the stuff under Appletalk in the help section but I'm not sure if this is what I need to use WebCat or what part of it and it doesn't mention the physical hookup part at all that I can find. . . )Also after I get WebCat up and running I will be co-locating my server several hours away. After that I will be contacting WebCat via my G3's internal modem connection and my regular phoneline. Will I have to configure (I'm not sure that's the right term) things differently at that time? Also I was going to have WebTen set up with Tenon's TCP stack but do I need to set up a dual stack so I can also have Open Transport? Is Open Tranport needed so I can work with Webcat from the G3?Also, I don't know if it effects any of this, but I will be using Webten for virtual hosting and WebCat's option for creating multiple storefronts. Oh, and I'm using Web Merchant also. So if any part of this is Open Transport dependent I want to make sure I've got it there. Why something would use Open Tranport versus Tenon's TCP seems a mystery to me. How does one know? Thanks for the help everyone, Robin Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
