My suggestion is to either tie both systems to a single sql data source or build a web based pos system that is tied to the same webcat db that your web site is using. It's not that difficult to build a custom admin template that contains all the form elements you need to do a sale in-store and even return a printable invoice. Not exactly an answer to your question, but I've done quite a lot of consulting in this area and in most cases, this sort of scenario is an eventuality.
