For example, a project I am currently working on involves a catalog.txt file that supports the searching and tracking of music by genres, as well as requiring a unique identifier for each product (in this case cd's). We created a unique series of sku numbers in FMPro that identified the genre, gave a unique identifier, and allowed us to maintain seperate databases outside of the catalog.txt file while still enabling us to use append, replace, and delete functions when necessary. This concept also allows you to use mathematical search parameters joined with keyword search functions. While this does mean that the catalog.txt file is a merged series of formerly seperate databases, it is easily sorted and updated by sku, and is exportable to and importable from a seperate database program without having to stop the WebCatalog program from running (at least not for very long). The coolest thing about this simple solution (other than the cost savings) is that you can apply it to other functions within your site, such as creating an online registration form that accesses a predetermine sku set. We use it to collect information and (when we get around to it) provide customized pages for people touring our site. You could probably do a lot more with it. And you could definitely save a field for something more important like...? Associated Messages, from the most recent to the oldest:
