texte = Tables are not a global application resource (like the databases). Tables are private for each thread. So if you have 500 simultaneous requests to a template that uses one table, then you could have as many as 500 tables in memory at a time. We are considering adding global data objects to the WebDNA engine, so that you could persist TABLE, TEXT, MATH, XML, etc...objects indefinitely. But there will be the additional overhead of controlling synchronized access to the global objects (much like we have with native WebDNA databases). If you are generating TABLES from multiple queries against databases that remain unchanged for a length of time, you may be better off creating temporary databases. Then multiple connections can 'share' access to the temporary db resources. -----Original Message----- From: Larry Hewitt [mailto:larryh@hewittco.com] Sent: Monday, October 27, 2003 5:05 PM To: WebDNA Talk Subject: Question on TABLES Does a TABLE generation create new space in RAM for all of the table data, or is it simply pointers to data in the existing RAM. The reason: if we have 500 simultaneous connections (not uncommon in our election products), generating hundreds of tables, are we going to run the RAM requirements through the roof and create performance issues?
