You could do this yourself, since filling in the form is trivial. You can print out the check locally with any blank check stock and in most cases, you won't even need the special MICR toner. However using an outside service like paybycheck.com allows you to:a) Verify that the routing number matches the bank. b) Checks the purchaser against a national negative information database. The problem with i-checks, or e-checks or whatever you want to call them is that if you are selling a service instead of a product and if you provide the service immediately, you will be amazed at the number of checks that bounce not because of NSF or stop payment, but because the account number doesn't match a valid account. I think people are on the the scheme that they can enter a valid routing number and then enter anything they want in the account number field and be able to make a purchase. Now if you're holding shipment of a product until after the check clears, fine. But you will then be frustrated at the time it takes any of the outside services to get the check to you unless you are big enough or willing to pay an additional fee for the service to deposit the checks in your bank account electronically. Otherwise, you're waiting for them to send you the check in the s-mail.At 8:14 PM 3/18/00, Glenn Busbin wrote: >Has anyone set up a site to accept payments with eChecks instead of just >credit cards? > >If so, how well does it work? > >Does it foul up WebMerchant?_________________________________________________ Joseph D'Andrea JoeDan@West21.com WEST21.com Internet services for the 21st Century http://www.west21.com/ _________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
