I am running two kinds of sites: ones located inside the/cgi-shl/WebCatalog directory using *.tpl extensions mapped to $WebCat.exe; andthose located in document directories located in the site's virtual home, i.e.C:\Servers\Site\htdocs, using *.shtml extensions mapped to $WebCat.dll. I movedmy ViewOrder.shtml file to the /cgi-shl/WebCatalog directory and got thefollowing error message:Message: Shell C:\WebSite\cgi-shl\WebCatalog\$WebCat.dll does not exist or isnot executable.Yet the exact same file operates correctly in any document directory. If Iadd [protect admin] to the file, I cannot authenticate using any admin users. If I rename the file to ViewOrder.tpl, I can authenticate just fine! If I thenmove the file back into a document directory, I can still use [protect] justfine. It appears that $WebCat.dll and $WebCat.exe do not operate in the same way. Icannot authenticate using $WebCat.dll at all; I must use $WebCat.exe (which asmy other message yesterday mentioned is painfully slow). It also appears that content type wwwserver/isapi is limited to operating outof document directories and wwwserver/shellcgi content types can beanywhere. This may be a limitation of O'Reilly's WebSite, and I will confirmthat with them.I will report this to SM and WebSite support directly, since I want to use thefaster isapi DLL rather than the slower EXE.John Peacock____________________Reply Separator____________________Subject: [protect] weirdness Author:

I find that I cannot use [protect] on any ofthose pages and get it to work. I always get Authorization failed even thoughI can do the same thing to the TeaRoom and the exact same users work.Is this a known problem? Has anyone else seen this? I do not see any mentionof it in the archives. There is a FAQ that states that WebCat files do not needto be located within the WebCat directories.
