Re: What is the default seed for the encrypt context?
This WebDNA talk-list message is from 2000
It keeps the original formatting.

texte = from the docs on [decrypt]-Note: Do not be concerned that someone can download a copy of WebCatalog and use it todecrypt your passwords. Even if someone manages to get your Users.db file (which is very hard to do, because the webserver will not allow it to be sent to a browser), the passwords in Users.db are encrypted in such a way they cannot be decrypted, even by WebCatalogitself. WebCatalog always compares these passwords in their ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ encrypted form when checking for ADMIN privileges, and the passwords arenever decoded into plain-text. Even Smith Micro Software cannot decrypt your Users.db file.I assume that if you want to do that you will need to have users store passwords inyour own custom db where they have been encrypted with a seed you define.-JohnNicolas Verhaeghe wrote:> Some might know why I ask this question.>> Actually, as the web admin, I would like to be able to see what somebody's> password is in the users.db ...>> If somebody could email this information to me, I would appreciate.>> -------------------------------------------------------------> This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to> the mailing list
