If thereis no [authenticate] present then the username / password values will not getoverwritten. Also note that w/ wc4 , you have to name your form inputs something otherthan username & password since [username] & [password] can no longer pick upvalues from formvars in wc4. Also note that IE5/Mac always works w/Brice's trick. NN4.7/Mac works the first time you set username / password, but after that I was not surethe username / password values could be overwritten..
