If this were used for different applications where long strings were needed, that would limit your string length to the number of characters in the database. If you cared, you could avoid that like this:[loop start=1&end=[pwlength]] [search db=alphanum.db&neCHARdata=find_all&raCHARsort=1&randseed=[random][random][random]&max=1] [founditems][char][/founditems] [/search] [/loop]But again, this hardly seems important for an 8-16 character string...Marc Frechet Kenneth Grome wrote: > > >I am familiar with the [random] tag, but is there a method for > >creating a random alphanumeric sequence such as: > > > >g39hys > > > >To be used for randomly generated passwords etc? > > Yes, create a database of alphanumeric characters, then search for > all records and sort the results in random order, then grab as many > of the founditems as you need for the length of your password. > > ---------------------------------------------------- > Kenneth Grome & Associates > web: http://kengrome.com > email: owner@kengrome.com > mobile: +63 917 254-1494 > office: +63 32 262-8164 > ---------------------------------------------------- > > ------------------------------------------------------------- > This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to > the mailing list . > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > Web Archive of this list is at: http://search.smithmicro.com/------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
