I hit sites all the time that have CSS drop downs that work just fine. I've even built a few beta's that are simple and disply great. To me it's a matter of your visitors... Always check your logs, see what browsers people are using and design with that in mind. We all know that not everyone has the newest browser. I've got browsers on my Mac here that range from NN3x to NN6 over to all kinds of IE's and AOL's. All of this I test with. I happen to use 4.7NN because, like you, I like it. It's a good browser. And it's fairly stable. From what I see of my logs, a lot of other people are still using it. If you go to Netscapes and Microsofts websites, you can easily download all these old browsers to test with. Hell, I still get WebTV users showing up in my logs. I also have Virtual PC on this machine with all of it's choices of browsers so I can test from a PC platform as well. Unfortunately I think a lot of people get into the habit of thinking that the only browser out there is the one they use, and so they only test in that configuration and assume it works for everyone. Again, the best solution for me is ... review your logs ( I use FunnelWeb Pro ), and test, test, test. The day the take my Netscape 4.7 is when they pry it from dead, cheetoh stained fingers!> > > Glad to see I'm not the only one that can't let go! ;-) > > Donovan > > Kim, if, by chance, you did want to make 4.x compatible for your site there > is a JS fix for your (so called DHTML (never understood why they termed > these drop downs as dynamic html)) dropdowns. www.projectseven.com > has the DreamWeaver extension but if you want just the Java Script code I should be > able > to find it. > > cheers, > Donovan > > Robert Wade wrote: > > > This happened with with MacOS 9.4 - Netscape Navigator 4.7x > > > > When the page loads, this pops into the location field of the browser: > > http://www.fauxefficient.com/products/styles.inc > > > > Then I get the following in the window.... > > > > HTTP Error 404 > > > > 404 Not Found > > > > The Web server cannot find the file or script you asked for.
