Several inter related tables, rather than a single table.Off the top of my head, you could have the following tables:People (name, address, credit card, people ID, etc.) Packages (cost, seat, packageID, etc) Theaters (Seats, Films, etc.) PurchasedPackages (peopleID, PackageID, theater, etc.)You could do a huge variety of reporting and processing from these tables.Think about how the WebCatalog Orders, Lineitems, Products DB model works. That's a relational system. Hope this helps. >>> PatrickJ@vsm.net 09/05/02 03:58PM >>> Dearest members of the talk list -My feeble mind can't wrap around this project. I'll lay it out, and if someone can think of a good starting point, let me know please! We are hosting a film festival website. They would like to do online ticket reservations (NOT sales). However, the spreadsheet they came up with represents about just under 73 trillion fields. Here are the essentials:There are 5 ticketing reservation TYPES: The Bronze, Silver Gold and Platinum packages each represent a certain number of seats reserved for a single movie in a single theater. The fifth type is individual ticket sales. All of the theaters have either 65, 75 or 100 seats available per movie. There are 5 MOVIES times 4 THEATERS each day for 20 movies. There are 9 DAYS of film festivities. They wish to track how many of each package was sold, and keep a running tab of total ticket reservations for each movie (allotted and remaining), as well as the total receivables (tickets are universally and blessedly $8).Other than creating a field for each package type, each movie, each theater and each day...can this be done?Opinions, suggestions, remarks please.Patrick Junkroski------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
