Have you done a survey to see how many current customers are using WebCat on a single domain name? If my suspicions are correct, not many. Why not take that $495 price point and offer a Typhoon Pro, unlimited domains/connections, no shopping cart tags? That's something that I could really budget for. It would change the way I'm planning my entire build out. And it seems all too obvious that if you put Typhoon Pro on a cost/benefit comparison sheet against cold fusion, asp, or even something like Lasso, you'd open up a huge new market for your technology that until now has been priced out of reach. > Unlimited > add-on serial number can be purchased for $1000, bringing your entire > upgrade to $1495. I then bought three license of 3.x for $1500 a piece. I then upgraded them to 4.x for $500 a piece. And that was in the grand economic stretches of the internet boom. Today, although you say $1495 is a good deal for an upgrade, I see that in the current economy I have to be much more cautious about spending. There is certainly no shortage of alternatives to WebNDA, and I am now forced to look more seriously at them. Although it was a secret product, I bought Typhoon Pro 3.x for $500 back in '98 or '99. It frustrates me now that this product appears to be dead. It frustrates me that my upgrade path for WebCat has gone from an expected $500, based on past upgrades, to $1500. Oh Blunder! I'm so excited! :*( > > The $2995 upgrade price to Enterprise is an option if you can use the > benefits it presents. > > Enterprise Edition includes Intranet as well as CMS, WSDL, etc. $2995 > is an > outstanding price for Enterprise Edition. Cringe. Instead, I'd like to see a product announcement from SM that left me pleasantly surprised, or even elated. I want to be a happy customer. I'd like to continue to talk openly and proudly about WebDNA to colleagues and customers. I'd like to see a product that was the quintessential no brainer. The Welcome plugin for WebStar was such a thing. Incredibly useful at a great price. You've got the incredibly useful part down. I guess I could be wrong and all the people I talk to that run hosting and development firms who say they are looking for ways to cut technology spending are actually secretly purchasing big ticket, proprietary technologies while talking out of the side of their mouths. But then again, that could just be a run-on sentence.Come on, SM ISD, show me the love. :) Yours, (but maybe not for long) Mike ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
