texte = Of note to developers who use this technique...charlotteshop.com opens a window via javascript after loading the index page using the onLoad method on the body. There is no actual link on the index page, just the hidden javascript that opens a new window with the actual site interface. The problem with this approach is that the new wave of users that now have the option of turning off pop-up windows (AOL, Earthlink, MSN, Apple Safari) will not see the new window, thus will not get into the site. I am using the pop-up blocker in the new Safari browser myself, and if it wasn't for the fact that I looked at the source code of the index page, I wouldn't have been able to get to the actual content hidden on the index2.html page. Using a pop-up to constrict an interface to a smaller window is not at issue. What is is the method, or lack there of, used to open the window. Pop-up blockers don't block new windows if they are triggered by user actions. So you can solve the problem quite easily by putting a link on the index page that says Enter or the like and have that link trigger the javascript.MikeOn Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 09:52 AM, Charles Kline wrote:> Well... then again somethings just can't be demonstrated easily > without Flash.>> http://www.charlotteshop.com - done in WebDNA a few years ago.>> - Charles>>>-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list
