The system is designed to allow agencies from across the state enter in information regarding contract offerings to fulfill state legal requirements of notification. The system design is fairly straightforward. A bunch of integrity checking (most date based) and a long term archiving plan. However, there are 2 requirements that have me spending a lot of undesirable time on.1. PDF creation on the fly. We had worked out a semi-automatic PDF scheme with another client that worked wonders for creating a 150 page technical listing from WebDNA... But the final step was the human intervention for the actual PDF creation using Get URL feature of acrobat. Either we will have to script that or go the even more cryptic route of true PDF creation from WebDNA code.2. A spell check much be available at the browser level to help the agencies improve the quality of their offerings (lol at least from a spelling point of view). The spell check should not have any requirements for client side software and should work on as many platforms (client) as possible.Additionally, this system will need to have redundant and geographically independent installs so any outside software package would come with twice the licensing issues. Which puts me square in the remote data sync'ing issue with WebDNA.Ideally that's why a spelling 'service' has turned out to be so attractive. Whether its 2 installs or 5 the cost is the same. The reliability of the service will be critical, though I could probably get by with a blip here or there as it is obviously not an integral part of the project. This project is ours to lose and I intend to go wayyyyy out on the limb to propose WebDNA, which is clearly an unknown platform to the state boys. The ability to follow through that goal is going to depend on the details and extras that entice them enough to step out of the box. Though admittedly, government people hate to do that.Should be interesting if nothing else.Sorry for the long answer... I will be in proposal hell for the next 8 days solid.
