This is exactly what I talking about, and it certainly would have helped *me* when I got started w/ WebDNA [/rant] Rich, No offense to you of course; I am not implying that you are dumb at all.... what helped me learn at first was to give myself a simple, specific and ultimately useful project to work on. In my case it was a 'contract-generator' where on one page I could fill out a form based on the contract I use with my clients (certain variables are obvious, like Clients' names and addresses -- you know, things that are guaranteed to change on every project), and then on the next page I would 'plug in' those vars to a printable, custom contract. The somewhat advanced learning came when I wanted to show/hide stuff based on a client's State, etc. (if they are in my State I charge them Sales Tax on taxable stuff, for instance). Another thing was to code the basic math to generate a 50% deposit on the project (which I require). I dunno, this exercise really worked for me, as it showed me a lot, not just about WebDNA, but also about web-forms and the concept of 'variables' itself, which, at the time, I didn't have a good grasp on. I am a Graphic Artist by trade, and sort of 'fell into' WebDNA... so hopefully that is encouraging to you. I am definitiely what folks could call a 'non-programmer type' :) And yeah, besides any documentation you can get your hands on (no matter how dry), this list and its archive are priceless. Most of the people here don't bite, but even the ones who do are still helpful. "Nuthin' to it but to do it". Just keep practicing.
