texte = Rich, I started in 6 years ago by lurking for a while, then just diving in to the site I needed to create. It was a couple of months before I actually did anything. When I have a site I need to develop, I start by reasoning out the steps that need to be taken (in plain English, like this password reminder: "User types email address in form. Next page searches the database for his email. If found, an email is sent to user with username and password. If not, some other code tells him he's not a registered user, and show them a form to register, or link to registration form."). Then take it a step at a time, until you reach the end. In the above example, starting with the form, learn how to pass the necessary variables to the next page (which can technically be the same page; a mini-lesson in itself). That's enough for one lesson. Then for lesson two figure out how to use those variables to perform a search, and so on. Just break it down, break it down, break it down. You can do it. Do you have a specific project you need to get done? If so, describe it, people can suggest the general process, then the parts can be broken down, making it less daunting for you. There's nothing like a real project to force you to learn what you need to know. Ask questions here on the list, use the searchable archives, and things will start to make sense after a while. Good luck! I came to this with no programming experience other than html (although I did have an understanding of how databases work), and it just makes sense to me. Terry I've been reading the posts now for over a month and have come to realize that I'm in over my head. Can anyone give me some advice as to where I can 'begin' in getting a handle on working with WebDNA. I have come to the conclusion that there must be some good advice out there as where I can start (books, sites, courses) in understanding database programs and in particular the WebDNA side of the equation. Any advice for a newbie? Thanks, ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
