Whenever I attempt to submit a large form through an SSL connection that calls a WebDNA page, the submission fails. The size of the form data and resulting browser failure seems related to the individual browser. IE5 for the Mac seems to fail in a post of about 1000 characters, Safari is next, then Opera, Firefox, and Netscape. IE6 for Windows allows the largest form submission without failure. If the form is large enough, all browsers will fail. I had previously posted about this problem to this talk list a couple of weeks ago, and it was suggested that the problem was with WebStar. However, I am able to submit the large forms through SSL using Flexmail (plugin included with WebStar), as well as custom written Perl scripts without issues. The only failure occurs when submitting through to WebDNA. I run WebDNA 4.5.1, but I installed the latest Developer Edition (6.0) on a machine that has a fresh install of Panther and WebStar. It has the same issues as 4.5.1. I am suspecting that there might be a problem with the WebDNA WebStar plugin, and am hoping that someone who has a similar setup (version 5.3 or later of WebStar, and version 4.5.1 or later of WebDNA) can test my test files on their server to see if the problem persists. I have a test form available at https://secure.webbuilders.com/page3.html. It simply submits to a WebDNA page which contains only [formvariables][name]=[value]
[/formvariables]. No browser can submit this form on any of my servers. Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help. If this is a true bug, perhaps this will help get it fixed.
