texte = Hi Edwin Well, I don't think Open Source is the cure to it all. SmithMicro= did go a right way with giving the Developer edition away for fr= ee. Nowadays the way to success is to have a product that integrates=20= with other applications as much as possible. As an example, ODBC=20= is fine and works (somehow), but since SmithMicro implemented nat= ive MySQL support within WebDNA it is much easier for us to deal=20= with it. I have written to Scott and others at SMSI many times that there=20= is a need to have more native drivers for other DB's for the succ= ess of WebDNA. WebDNA at first was accepted because it hooked up to CreditCard m= erchants in a easy to use Administration. Now, if they would succ= eed in doing the same with a "database pool" where we can just ho= ok up to any database, doesn't matter what my code would look lik= e. Or even write some hook for some CRM systems. I think that wou= ld "open" up WebDNA to much more candidates, then just giving it=20= away for free. Anyhow, SMSI has just bought Allume (and Allume bought Stuffit be= fore). So now they have another product they need to push.
