I am about to be commissioned to develop an intranet solution for a local MNC. I presented a mock-up model using WebDNA as the backend database and Flash as the GUI for the front end. Won the shoot-off with 3 other vendors and now I have 3 months to roll-out after I submit the final contract for sign-off. Here is one of my question ....Is it really safe for me to use WebDNA (planning to buy another license since the client wants to own everything on their box)? I have been using WebDNA when it was WebCatalog and have always remained in the shadows of this talklist (Great bunch of guys n gals here .. I might add). Recently, there has been so much talk of the lack of or no support, the end of the road for WebDNA and numerous negative publicity. It is really getting me worried! I hate to imagine getting myself anchored with my client using WebDNA for a 3 years contract with roll overs, only to find WebDNA disappearing down the line. My client have numerous lawyers on their payroll and they have nothing better to do so I am told which means ...they will enjoy plucking my feathers if ever the shit hits the fan. The second part of my question ....Is there any similar alternative to WebDNA? I have explored the WWW and so far I find that WebDNA is pretty unique. One software ..all in, can serve all purpose, built in flat file ram database, emailer and easy to use. Yes, there is CF, AJAX, Filemaker Server, ROR and more but really ...none of them is like WebDNA and yes, I really do love WebDNA. Looking forward to some feedback and many thanks in advance. Terry Nair Prism4u LLC PS: Will the original fathers of WebCatalog please consider giving us something like WebDNA ... Really hate to see WebDNA die without another of its kind in place! ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
