It greatly improves the stability of servers with W*API plug-ins installed, especially plug-ins that perform a large number of TCP/IP operations.Download BIAP W*API Patch 1.0BIAP W*API Patch Read Me fileCopyright 1998, BIAP Systems, Inc., All Rights ReservedThe BIAP W*API Patch is a small W*API Server Plug-in designed to improve the stability of Macintosh web servers in heavy load situations. It corrects problems in the implementation of W*API in several servers, including WebSTAR 3.0. Use of this plug-in is recommended especially if you have other plug-ins installed that perform intensive network or memory based operations.InstallationSimply drop the BIAP W*API Patch plug-in into your server's Plug-Ins folder and restart your server. It's that simple.UsageThe BIAP W*API Patch is a fire and forget plug-in; once it's installed you can forget about it. The patch just sits there and keeps watch over your server, stepping in to prevent potential crashes whenever necessary. If a situation ever arises that requires intervention, the following message will appear in the status screen of your web server: BIAP W*API Patch just saved your bacon. To check the effectiveness of the plug-in, select the BIAP W*API Patch command from the server's plug-ins menu. This will open up a status window for the plug-in describing the number of times that the patch was activated, and the number of times that it saved your bacon (i.e., intervened to prevent a potential crash). The same information will be written to the server's status screen.NOTE: Every time the BIAP W*API Patch says that it saved your bacon, it has intervened to prevent one of several serious errors that could have caused a server crash, such as memory corruption, network lockup, etc. Although not all errors actually cause crashes, preventing errors is a good idea.
