texte = Holy crap! I just found a *major* change in the way WebCat 4 is structured. I was using the form variable username on some of my templates. These templates worked fine with 3.08, but failed with 4.0! It seems that username is a variable that Netscape passes for authentication. In 3.08 I could (unintentionally) override Netscape's info with my own (or rather, use them side by side), but with 4.0, I can't! Dear God!I'm mad-as-hell-and-I'm-not-going-to-take-it-anymore that SM would release such a major change in the way WebCat parses certain contexts without alerting us beyond lengthy discussions on the beta-list. How can we developers create good sites if you don't painstakingly detail every bit of code that has changed in the program? At the very least, I should have received a certified and registered letter from Smith Micro, hand-written by Grant, that explains all the changes. In addition, I don't think it's too much to ask that a fruit basket accompany the letter as a means of apologizing for any changes that I don't like. This new feature took me a whole 10 minutes to track down and 15 seconds to fix, but who knows what else may lurk on the horizon! I'm afraid I can no longer upgrade to 4.0 if such Easter eggs lurk in the code. Instead I will have to downgrade to 2.0. Damn you, Smith Micro! DAMN YOU!Actually, in all seriousness, I'm assuming that this is part of the new parsing hierarchy. It's just kind of weird that browser-passed variables (like username and probably password) get interpreted by WebCat at all. I can't see a reason to protect this info since it wasn't being overwritten in earlier versions, which seemed pretty secure to me.Michael KGDNR############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
