Obviously we have revenue targets to keep in mind, but we know the surest way to achieve those goals is by developing a tighter partnership with developers. The soon-to-be-launched Developer Resource Center (DRC) is designed with that goal in mind. Tutorials, case studies, white papers, a forum and an application showcase where partners can upload examples are all part of the DRC. Once launched, I'm sure I'll get comments and suggestions for DRC improvements. I've noticed many members of the talk list are not shy about offering comments! :-)Smith Micro will continue to offer hosting and consulting services, but I don't see this as a competitive function. For the most part, our engineers are focusing on upcoming products. But working on select high-profile projects will help us deliver more appropriate solutions and also promotes WebDNA recognition. At the same time, the DRC will showcase our partners and their hosting and consulting capabilities. We're here to compliment rather than compete.Parallel to establishing the DRC is the lead creation effort. WebDNA + developer partners + customers = $$ for all of us. As we step up the marketing effort and begin herding opportunities to our door, what will we do with the leads? The answer is for us to assist in qualifying the needs and ultimately directing the opportunity to the DRC. If the customer has in-house WebDNA talent and is only buying a license, they can do that there. If they need the services of a WebDNA professional, they will find *you* there. You mentioned small writing or condition type of stuff in our new direction. Can you help me understand what you are referring to? I'm not interested in making it complicated to do business with Smith Micro. Thanks again for the comments!Doug ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Doug Deck Director, Sales & Marketing Internet.Software.Solutions 949-362-2326 - Direct 949-389-1732 - Fax ddeck@smithmicro.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -----Original Message----- From: Donovan [mailto:donovan@ns1.ddbproductions.org] Sent: Friday, September 13, 2002 9:16 AM To: WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com Subject: Archives Suppor [was:Re: Hyperlink in email] O.K.,I don't know if anyone was here for it but SM just announced new support to come for WebDNA.... My problem with it is that it seems convoluted. On one hand I like the new interest and energy put into marketing and development. On the other I feel like I'm getting a offer for a credit card with a annual fee or a good introductory APR.Why can't we have just a good support environment where us gracious developers can contribute if we so desire. The support enviroment should have cut and paste examples for grass roots solutions. The docs are a good start but I think things could be expanded. Though in some ways we are competitors (meaning not only us developers but SM since they do hosting, training and coding etc..), in other ways we could seriously elevate the product recognition with better resources and colaboration. I look at it in a fashion that we (the list developers) are sort of a start up company. If the product use increases we all benefit. As long as Ken's sweat shop is kept busy, work will be offered more continuously to us all. ;-) Also, whats with being offered job leads by Smith Micro in the only instance that we are paying them money??? What would SM be without its developers?I just don't like the some of the small writing or condition type of stuff with SmithMicros new direction.Donovan -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------<><> Donovan Brooke <><>->ï ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
