texte = having to learn PHP these days, I can confirm, *WebDNA is waaaay simpler to code* (hats off to the source code of WebDNA that saves us from so much headache!); i.e. brain cooked, but.. ..If I'm thinking clearly back in WebDNA land: that change of which browser you use to view that data, coming out of a db, should not effect what is being *sent* to the browser via [convertchars].. Check the HTML source of the page you are viewing to be sure WHAT is being sent to the browser. If you need [convertchars] to convert the char created by command- shift-8 (or any char) to something else other than what it was before (to work in a new browser) , then you can always use a custom [convertchars] db. see the docs under "[convertchars]" about that. You can detect which browser is doing the viewing and so use a different custom convertchars db, as needed.
